Exams and Quizzes: There will be 8 quizzes given at the first of class over the previous and current week's lab. I expect you to read your lab before class in order to be prepared for that day's lab. One quiz grade will be dropped. There will also be a final and a midterm. Quizzes and tests may include fill in the blank, labeling, true/false, multiple choice, short answer, or essay.
Since this lab is part of your class grade, you will receive a numerical grade (instead of a letter grade) for this lab. The grade that you receive in this lab will be given to your class instructor. If there is a problem with the grading of the lab, please contact me. If you feel that the problem cannot be resolved with me, you may contact Joel Babitzke (ANS 342) at 651-2572 (office phone) or jbabitzke@mail.wtamu.edu. Attendance: You are responsible for attending every lab. There are no make-ups unless you are absent for a school function (band, athletics, etc). If you will be participating in a school-related function, I must be notified via WTclass email at least one week BEFORE the lab that you will be missing. If you are sick, have a family crisis, etc., you must be able to document the reason for absence and contact me BEFORE the lab or within 12 hours after the lab by sending me an email through WTclass. You must provide a plan to make up the lab, including times when you can attend another lab section and take the quiz. If possible you must attend one of my other lab sections in the same week by approving it with me ahead of time. If you cannot attend one of my labs, you may attend another teaching assistant’s lab with permission in ADVANCE. It is at my discretion to allow make-ups for reasonable, verifiable absences. If you will be unable to attend another lab section, then please meet with another student who participated in the lab assignment that you missed and review the results that he/she obtained during the lab. It is important that you do this so that you will not be at a disadvantage when taking the quiz for the lab that you missed. Please remember that you are given one drop grade to allow for missing a regular lab day quiz. Also, remember that make-ups are not a substitution for coming to lab! In addition, make sure that you save ALL emails (i.e., those relating to absences and lab make-ups) that you send to me; they may be needed for future reference. DO NOT MISS THE MIDTERM OR THE FINAL EXAM! If you must miss the exam, follow the same procedure (with an email to WTclass) so that arrangements can be made. Weather: In the event of weather causing the cancellation of labs (including exams), it is your responsibility to contact me or the department secretary (651-2570) within 12 hours of the cancellation of that lab/exam to determine the action required to complete the lab. Courtesy: You are all college students, and I expect that you will act like it. Please be on time, turn your phones off, and don’t distract others. Quizzes will be given at the beginning of lab. If you are late, you will not be allowed to make-up the quiz.
NOTE: I am here to help you; please don’t hesitate to contact me!!! Let’s enjoy biology together. Have a great semester!
