A blue-eyed female cat with pink fur, Aeris is friends with Leo, though she hardly ever tolerates his stupidity. She is easily the most sensible character, with a look of cuteness about her but a quick temper and little patience for the foolishness that surrounds her. She is almost always upset with the other characters, to the point of terminating Leo's existence in strip #259 when she travels back in time and prevents his birth, effectively "aborting him from time" [23] (two strips later, Leo reappeared, claiming that he "got better").[24] She is typically depicted as a sardonic voice of reason, or a sadist when encountering people who she feels are annoying. Aeris was introduced on September 4, 2001 in Strip 2, "Pika?".[25]
In "VG Cats: the Animated Series", Aeris is shown watching Family Guy, and stating that she likes to watch Clone High.
Aeris is a Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children fan, and is left-handed. She is not very good at fighting games, and gets irritated whenever Leo defeats her. She also parodies video game characters just as much as Leo does, mostly female ones. Aeris dislikes internet slang[26]. She is a fan and writer of slash fan fiction,[27] and yaoi.[28][27] Aeris is named after one of Ramsoomair's real cats; Ramsoomair describes the association as "in name only."[2]
[edit] Leo Leonardo, The Third
Leo Leonardo, The Third[29] is a green-eyed male cat with grey fur. Leo, enthusiastic but credulous, is typically the more foolhardy of the two cats. While he usually projects a general air of idiocy, he has shown signs of a deeper intelligence, or at least marginal quantities of common sense. Some strips show Leo starring in the roles of video game characters such as Solid Snake,[30] Link,[31] Fox McCloud,[32][33] Leon S. Kennedy,[34] and Mario.[35][36] Leo was named after one of Ramsoomair's real cats; Ramsoomair describes the association as "in name only."[2] Leo was introduced on September 4, 2001 in Strip 1, "Feelin' Gassy".[37]
He was born from an orange female cat with brown eyes, and a grey male cat with light green eyes named Leonardo The Second, who appears characterized as a gentleman with a top hat, monocle, bow tie and tea cup, and speaking in a manner that implies British origins. [38]
[edit] Pantsman
The alter ego of Scott Ramsoomair, Pantsman is an incompetent superhero who conceals his identity by wearing trousers and sometimes underpants on his head. His greatest weakness is vodka cooler, which causes him to drop his trousers and transform into "Peter Pantsless".[39] He also wears a pair of jeans around his neck, to provide a two tailed cape. He was introduced in Strip 37, "I Like Bunnies", to help explain the inconsistent updating of the comic.[40]
[edit] Krug, Lord of the Unpleasant
A horned red demon of limited intelligence, a childlike demeanor, and a voracious appetite (occasionally eating companions), Krug can act in a violent manner at times and tends to talk in the third person. His alter ego is Dr. Van Kruglor, and is the arch-nemesis of Pantsman.[39] Krug was introduced in Strip 26, "The Incredible Krug".[41]
[edit] Ternaldo
Ternaldo is a collectible card game fan oblivious to the finer points of social interaction. He is a Galka, a playable character race in Final Fantasy XI. Ternaldo enjoys Yu-Gi-Oh!, Beyblade, and other collectible trading card games.[42][43] Ternaldo is often used to represent the ubiquitous newbie in gaming circles - someone who is overenthusiastic and completely clueless. Ternaldo was introduced in Strip 90, "Card Sharks".[44]
[edit] Dr. F.G. Hobo
In strips 64 through 183, Dr. F.G. Hobo[45] is an alley-dwelling lunatic given to telling absurd, rambling stories. He tends to speak with a drunken slur, and uses a dead squirrel as his phone.[46] Dr. Hobo was introduced in Strip 64, "Oh Canadia".[47] In Strip 183, "Gin City", some men find Dr. Hobo during a snowy night. A paramedic checks Dr. Hobo's pulse, then the next several panels portray Dr. Hobo's body being placed in a body bag and taken into an ambulance.[48]
[edit] Johnny Evilguy
Johnny Evilguy is a greedy and unscrupulous antagonist named after an example character in the Neverwinter Nights scenario creation guide. He usually appears as a shop owner, in various circumstances, often trying to rid himself of a surplus of testicle-based produce. He was introduced in Strip 52, "Nutsack".[49]
[edit] Major Payne
Major Payne is a large man wrapped in a black rubber suit (with the mouthpiece zipped shut that renders his speech unintelligable) wearing a green beret. His main purpose on the comic is to deal with the comic's fictional critics and fanboys, usually by implied sodomy. Pantsman states that Major Payne was expelled from the army for being a masochist.[50] Payne was introduced in Strip 69, "Boundaries of Good Taste".[50]
