As a woman, I would never intentionally create something to harm or insult my fellow secret garden carriers. I do believe it is necessary for everyone to know the true meaning and origin of terms frequently used in our everyday life. I couldn’t discriminate against any word, no matter how repulsed I was to include it. To alert readers of any derogatory words, I inserted the abbreviation: Derog. So please proceed with extreme, ‘think twice’ caution before using any derogatory words. As a writer, I’ve always wanted a resource guide that provides options for even the most unflattering synonyms not found in your typical dictionary or thesaurus. I hope you find The Shesaurus fun, resourceful and educational. I learned a great deal while researching these terms. The Shesaurus Intro Rosie the Riveter There was a time when women were not allowed to vote. There was a time when women wore long frocks to cover their knees because they were forbidden to show any skin. There was a time when women had no business running a business, let alone having a voice to speak. Ladies we’ve come a long, long way from having no rights at all, to owning our own companies. We can balance a career and raise a family without missing a beat. This book gives cheers to the women of the world and their influences on our future generations. I thank the many women pioneers for paving the way so that we may become doctors, lawyers, judges, directors, writers and even sexy pin-ups. I love being a woman. I feel so lucky and proud to be apart of this growing generation. We no longer have to apologize for being powerful, sexually charged or smarter. If we got it, we work it! The Shesaurus C Circassian Beauty Legend has it in the late 1860’s, they were the “purest” stock of beautiful Caucasian women. They were in high demand and purchased for the pleasure of a Turkish or Russian Sultans. Known for their “moss hair” they were exhibited in circus sideshows and dime museums. The Shesaurus D Daughters of Bilitis (D.O.B.) This is a lesbian rights organization formed in 1955 as a social alternative to lesbian bars.
