I am Dr K Chaudhry
I joined You Tube only five months ago. You Tube reposed in me confidence as a dedicated user and
has entrusted me the sweet duty of welcoming you all to India-specific website YouTube India with
domain, youtube.co.in
My experience with You Tube has been vibrant and versatile. With liberty of expression at You Tube,
language used in users' comments cannot be controlled. I too receive comments between two extremes -
from hardcore obscene abuses to flattering admiration. Fortunately, I have the option to block the user
and remove the comment I do not relish. I have no ill feelings for those users. I myself composed
obscene songs and sang loudly at medical college hostel. The guys using offensive language may be
around that age. On the positive side, a user thanked me for curing chronic insomnia - I just listen to your
songs and fall asleep. Many users claim to become tension free, listening my songs.
I have a very fast pick up and can magnify a tiny tip into a huge mass of information. On 1st february,
some one commented "Chords are OK but notes are not followed....". Tossing my head over unknown
words, I transformed the comment into "Lines are OK but words are not followed....". Within minutes I
corrected my timings and uploaded a song. Oh what a day was that! I received a spurt of admirations
from users in many countries. I extracted useful tips from all the comments and improved every day.
Retrospectively, when I view the funniest day of my life - 1st february 2008, I feel the day transformed
me from nonsinger into a bad singer with huge scope of improvement. People had admired only my voice
and potentials to become good singer.
Just as useful tips, I keep an eagle's eye on helpers. 73 years old Karim Sahab in Canada watched my
videos every day and began teaching me in his comments On March 5, He was thrilled with my
performance Mera Joota Hai Japanee, made four comments within a few hours and never showed up
back again. I could only pray for his health and life. I recall his last remarks,"I am glad you achieved
whatever I expected from you. My mission is over as successful". But what made him disappear after
that, I do not know.
Around 1971, I learnt a bit of astrology and palmistry and interpretted myself as "Heavy Addict". I used
to gamble upto 72 hours without rest and sleep - drinking, chain smoking and doing every thing bad. Even
at this age, I can work continuously for 72 hours. Alarmed with my own horrible prediction, I confined
myself indoors and overnight, got rid of all addictions, except smoking. Some months later, I married and
my wife took control of me. But then I have a surprise in store for you. The impunged prediction never
relieved me. I was still a heavy addict, working hard for 16-21 hours a day on strange projects. A person
working hard, with full dedication, for 16-21 hours a day. What do you feel could be beyond me!. I
became known across the globe, in diverse fields - medical books, instrumentaion, journalism, astrology,
software development, web hosting, internet marketing - and presently before you as singer on You
Tube, recording and uploading upto 12 songs every day. People curse me for masking their performance
under my bulk. I cannot help that for I cannot curtail my dedication and my capabilities. I have over 500
videos running on You Tube with over 7000 hits everyday. In addition I removed 220 videos uploaded
before february as bad performance.
That was my personal experience with You Tube - I hope you enjoyed that.
You Tube has over 300,000 videos uploaded every day. India's contribution to YouTube's global traffic
is less than one per cent. Indian content obviously gets lost in that sea of videos.
YouTube India will aggregate Indian video content -- specifically movie trailers, music videos,
independent films and television content. YouTube.India will help Indian surfers to get what they want. It
will also be an excellent platform for young filmmakers to launch their work. All they have to do is create
a channel to drive traffic to their videos.
Friends, this is just the beginning. YouTube India executives will scour the country for television content,
music videos and also work with producers to make their products available for viewing.
The possibilities are endless, especially for television production houses. Television viewing in India is
limited to just television, even though it is extremely vibrant. With YouTube India, television production
houses can internationalise their copyright content, even monetise it. YouTube India advertising service
will throw up region and topic-specific overlay ads on videos. This revenue shall be shared with the
copyright holder.
