Understanding why children live on the streets is essential, as it is almost always broken homes that drives children onto the streets. "My life on the streets is better than at home" is a common response by street children. Living on the street creates a conflict of needs for children, whereby their childish routine must correspond with an adult struggle. As children, street kids play with toys, joking around and enjoying the type of games that are part of the learning process. This development process for children should be under protected conditions, but for street kids, it occurs in a different context. Street children are forced to make adult decisions eg; how to get money, food, clothing, shelter etc. Children are not qualified to make these type of decisions, and as such, will inevitably make bad choices. Despite this dilemma, street children continue to fight for their own survival, with a positivity and hope that only children can possess. The Long Street Kids © represent this hope.
