Tingalin iPhone App (Çifteli) - Available Now at the iTunes App Store

Tingalin is a virtual lute application based on the Albanian musical instrument called Çifteli (pair of strings). Melodies are played by shaking your iPhone or iPod Touch as if you were strumming the real instrument. Each time you strum up or down a note is played, allowing you to control tempo and rests by the frequency of your strumming! You don't have to be a musician to play it, two melodies are preloaded to make you look like a pro right away! Tingalin is unique, educational and best of all it is lot of fun!

New melodies are created by tapping the 14 note fret board (2 octaves) and can be saved in your tune list for later play back. The topmost fret is the open string and each note thereafter ascends one note at a time.

The Çifteli is a wooden instrument with a long thin handle and a pear-shaped sound bowl. This two string lute looks similar to Setar, Saz and Tambura; however, its sound is unique. The first string is used to play the notes while the seconds strings acts as a backup harmonic tune.
